Hurricane Earl

With Hurricane Earl approaching, I hope everyone has taken care of securing their property. I believe we have done all we can do at this point. Everything from doormats to garbage cans to potted plants and bird feeders have been placed indoors or out of harm's way. Cars are on high ground and enclosed where possible. The sails are removed from the boat, its drains have been cleared of debris, and the docklines are secure.

Our generator is in place, along with plenty of fuel and several long extension cords. It has been tested and is working beautifully. If the power should go out we can keep the refrigerator operating, along with lights, tv, etc.

My wife is accoustomed to our having a well and electric well pump, and asked me to fill up our water jugs "just in case" (even though we are on city water now). So I filled up the three 5 gal. jugs we carry on the boat without question.

The wind is beginning to pick up, and a large piece of cardboard is already being blown across a neighbor's yard. The rain is expected to begin early this afternoon.

Be safe, hurricanes are serious storms and can change direction quickly despite what the weather experts predict.
